Rye Harbour Nature Reserve has one of the only remaining large populations of Water Vole in Sussex. They have experienced one of the fastest declines of any native mammal in the 20th century, with populations decreasing by 90% in the last 30 years. The team work hard to maintain good habitats for them and while they're incredibly hard to spot, small cut stems or latrines along ditches, are signs of their presence.
